I AM aware that the comprehensive title of this work appears to be out of proportion to the small number of its pages. It has been my intention to put before the reader, in as few words as possible, a distinct outline of the vocal instruments, with the object of bringing the scientific and practical aspects of the voice into closer relation. If I should be so fortunate as to supply those, to whom the cultivation of the voice is a matter of importance, with materials to facilitate their work, and at the same time to indicate a line of scientific research to those who are in a position to pursue it, my object will.
